How do I…

Get ready for Sunday Worship?
What if I don’t have a psalter/hymnal or song book?
What if I don’t know what pitch to start on?
What if I need a piano accompaniment?
What if I want to practice singing in harmony?
What if I want my kids to learn to sing and read music?
What if I already know a little about music and want to learn how to read and sing better?
What if we never sing my favorite songs and I need more practice and I want to learn how to sing like a man (or woman if the reader is such)?
What if I have more questions?

How do I get Ready for Sunday Worship?
• The hymns for the coming Lord’s Day are listed on the website http://www.trinitykirk.org/music/ and updated every Tuesday.
• Audio and lyrics are linked to some and more links are being added each week. Beware, the tempos are usually plodding and the versions are sometimes slightly different from what we sing.

What if I don’t have a psalter/hymnal or song book?
• Please take two Cantus, Gray Booklets, and Songs for the Saints per family so you can practice at home. Go ahead, you have permission.

What if I don’t know what pitch to start on?
• Purchase a pitch pipe (C-C and not F-F) from any website for about $15.

What if I need a piano accompaniment?
• You and/or your kids can take piano lessons from Laurie Hyink, Jordan Doolittle, Rachel Doolittle, or others in the congregation who instruct piano technique, theory, history, worldview, and HYMN PLAYING (along with other skills).
• Want instant gratification? Piano accompaniment for more than half the songs in the Cantus can be found at http://www.canonpress.org/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=237&idcategory=0 for $15. Just set the CD to “repeat” and sing along!

What if I want to practice singing in harmony?
• Canon Press has audio files and CDs of a project called Worship in Harmony http://www.canonpress.org/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=498&idcategory=0 that includes about 20 songs from the Cantus. Your part can be heard alone, louder than the others, or blended to give you three effective ways to practice.

What if I want my kids to learn to sing and read music?
• Childrens Choir for grades 1-4 meets at the same time as Sunday School (9:00-9:40) during the year.
• Youth Choir for trebles grades 4+ meets for a set number of rehearsals each fall and spring. Ask Jordan Doolittle (jordandoolittle@gmail.com) for more details.

What if I already know a little about music and want to learn how to read and sing better?
• Adult Choir for high schoolers and adults meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:45 from September through May. Contact Jordan Doolittle (jordandoolittle@gmail.com) to sign up.

What if we never sing my favorite songs and I need more practice and I want to learn how to sing like a man (or woman if the reader is such)?
• Our monthly Psalm Sings provide great opportunities to request your favorite songs, request practice, and to just sit with others who sing your part and roar the Psalms with them.
